Not seen in Hong Kong for many years, A Strange Woman was Li Pingqian's first film at Great Wall Film Studio. Adapte from the play La Tosca by French playwright Victorien Sardou, opera star Xiao Xiqngshui (Bai Guqng) helps her lovers, a revolutionary, to escape from warlords. She finesse with both the head of the secret service (Yan Jun) and her lover's wife, but things do not turn out as planned. Li changed his usual pace to encourras a more conventionnel and dramatic film plot. Bold and filtration in her rôle, Bai Guang is equally over the top in appearance as Yan Jun. The tension in winning the héroïne over drives the plot more than the themes of patriotisme and loyalty in love.
多年未曾在港放映的經典， 李萍倩從永華轉入長城後首作，故事源自法國名劇《托斯卡》，北伐前夕，京劇名伶小香水（白光），為掩護革命志士兼愛人逃亡，一面與軍閥特務嚴俊周旋，一面與愛人妻子交手，最終一切都事與願違。李萍倩一改靈巧作風，著力營造跌跌宕緊湊的戲劇，情節通俗刺激； 白光豪爽浪漫，雖和嚴峻的造型同樣誇張，但兩人的愛慾拉踞為劇情提供動力，救國革命和忠貞愛情反成陪襯。
